AMPLITUDE: AMPLIFY with Attitude

  • What is Amplitude

Welcome to the AMPLITUDE, an AMPLIFY podcast all about empowering youth within the queer community with the tools they need to create positive change in their communities.

Disclaimer: Hosts come from a variety of lived experiences which shape how we interact with and perceive the world around us. As a result, we are aware that we are only able to speak through the lens of our own experiences which are inherently limited. With that being said, AMPLITUDE would love more voices and perspectives to join the conversations, so we can all learn, unlearn, and relearn collectively.

  • Episode 1: Queer Identity Labels

In our first podcast, we revisit the accusations of queerbaiting against Kit Connor in 2022 to dive deeper into queer identity labels, pondering questions like can labels fully capture the complexity of lived experiences? How are labels policed? Is there potential for labels to empower? Or have we outgrown labels altogether? All of this and more in our inaugural episode of AMPLITUDE.

  • Episode 2: Voting Rights

Voting rights are an essential part of our everyday lives . We elect the next congressional person, mayor, town official, president, etc…. Yet, not all Americans citizens are awarded the same voting privileges. In the podcast Kasey and Eberechi discuss the hardships that trans individuals and minorities face while trying to access their right to vote. Then, Eberechi interviews two minority students at North Carolina A&T State University, about their experiences with voting.

  • Episode 3: Book Banning

AMPLITUDE explores book bans from diverse perspectives in this episode. Eberechi, Kasey, and Lateshia, start with the history of book banning and go up to current developments. Elana and Julie join in on a discussion of how books have supported all on the podcast through their lives, how banning books can hurt and marginalize people, and how the banning of books is not always a clear cut situation.

Access to some of banned books:
