Some accomplishments made in AMPLIFY…

Prevented a transphobic book from becoming available in local libraries.

And as a response, the creation of an inclusive book list for those libraries.

Leading Diversity and Inclusion seminars for schools and workplaces.

Led training on implicit bias and self-advocacy in conferences such as Rise Up.

“I am so grateful for having the opportunity to work with the amazing people at AMPLIFY and in Scaffolding. This community is entirely unique as it is one that emphasizes youth participation and community among peers. I have felt so welcome here and am very thankful for that. It has been lovely to see how in just the few months I’ve been helping out here, I feel like I can use my skills to make a difference.”

-Leah R.

“I cannot stress enough how much joy this space has given me. For what seems like time immemorial, gender and sexual minorities have been told that survival is the ultimate goal, and the spaces dedicated to youth who are part of these communities have emphasized this. AMPLIFY goes beyond this idea and into a radical one; marginalized youth can not only survive but thrive. Having a space that gives you the tools to advocate for yourself and for others is invaluable! It is the kind of earth-shattering opportunity that all youth deserve.”

About the Meetings Themselves:

  • Meetings are currently virtual and will remain available virtually as in-person meetings are added to the schedule.

In-person meetings can be start when there is a group of at least 7 youth and 2 Adult Advisors who can meet together. These meetings will be in comfortable, welcoming spaces, and always welcome virtual youth.

  • Meetings are generally 90 minutes long.

10-20 minutes for a welcome and check-in, 50-70 minutes working in break-out groups on projects, and 10-20 minutes to check out and update on what different groups worked on.
